October is filled with sweet treats and scary tricks, adventurer. Let’s take a walk down this dark dungeon pass and we’ll talk you through what treats we stuffed into the October 2023 Dungeon Crates. Look out! You’re going to see a new, original Cult Classics horror adventure, mini zombie horde, bloody dice, and more.
Premium RPG-Inspired Enamel Pin
Our featured item for October was a sticky mystery. Each crate got one of seven premium RPG-inspired enamel pin designs. Some were deadly serious, some silly, some were just straight-up D20s. We encouraged folks to stick this bad boy to their game bag, denim jacket, or dice bag to rep their RPG lifestyle.
Full Set of Blood Splattered RPG Dice
October is the creepiest month and it just didn’t feel right giving out regular dice so we offered up a full set of bloody RPG dice. These once pristine polyhedral dice were pre-splattered with the blood of your enemies. Don’t worry, they can handle more. The full set includes 7 bloody dice: D4, D6, D8, D10, D%, D12, and D20.
Horde of 4 Shambling Mini Zombies
Spoiler alert: our original adventure this month was loaded with the fungal undead. That’s why we tucked a horde of four shambling mini zombies into a blood-splattered bag.
Paint for Miniatures by Reaper Miniatures
Everyone got a bottle of essential paint by Reaper Miniatures. We selected a variety of paint colors for the October crate and pure luck of the dice roll dictates which color went into each crate. We love the quality of Reaper Miniature paints, which is why we keep them in stock in our brick and mortar store (6404 Maple Street in Omaha, Nebraska, if you’re in the neighborhood!). They’re highly pigmented with a matte finish, are water soluble, and have a dropper style bottle for use with an airbrush or paint brush.
Precision Brush for Painting Minis
We gave everyone a precision paint brush specifically designed for painting minis! We told our members to use it with the new paint we gave them to bring the new minis we gave them to life (un-life?) or use it to tackle all those minis that they haven’t gotten around to painting yet. The handle has a comfortable, ergonomic design and the slim brush works great for bringing out those teeny tiny details.
Original Full-Length Horror RPG Adventure by Wayne Brekke
Our Dungeon Crate exclusive October adventure was an original horror RPG creation by Dungeon Crate’s founder, Wayne Brekke. Cult Classics IV: Walking Night of the Last of Us is a level eight, full-length adventure that was designed for DnD 5E but with a few modifications, you could play it with most any fantasy TTRPG.
Here’s what adventurers were up against: An annual harvest festival brings in a wide variety of people from all over Halcyon but everyone seems to be acting strangely. Sometimes they get drunk and up to no good but this early in the day? Well, it is the harvest festival. Why is that person shambling aimlessly around the courtyard? Wait, is that blood?
Set of 2 Zombie Token Sheets — Dungeon Crate Exclusive
Another Dungeon Crate exclusive, we gave everyone a set of two zombie token sheets. Each premium-quality card is filled with illustrated zombie tokens. Cut them out and you’ll have a pile of undead that you can use to play the adventure (you’ll need ‘em!). Flip the undead tokens over to mark your dead zombies.
What’s an October mystery box without a little trick-or-treat bonus?! We tucked in a variety of treats (including a horror sticker) into this crate.
