Unboxing December 2023 Dungeon Crate

What Was Included in December 2023 Dungeon Crates?

December had us decking our dungeon halls to be prepped and ready for merry adventures. We stuffed the December crates with plenty of RPG goodies, including a full-length Pathfinder 2E / D&D 5E adventure! Read on to find out what we included in the December 2023 Dungeon Crates.

Mystery Set of RPG Dice

Everybody loves a mystery, especially when it’s a colorful bag stuffed full of dice. Once people opened up this firey red and orange mystery bag, they found a full set of seven polyhedral dice. We knew these bags would enchant all the dice goblins (or gremlins, however you identify), be great to open and use when rolling up a new character, or would be an ultra generous gift to a new player.

Cardography Deck from Norse Foundry

Next up on our list of goodies for the nice, was a Cardography Deck from Norse Foundry. One of the many great things about this 52-card dungeon crawl module is that you can use whatever roleplaying game system you like best to play it. The dungeon tile cards can be used in a specific order, in a random dungeon build, or as a story builder in your own campaign. Includes a downloadable PDF module for Fate Core and D&D 5E.

Medium Fire Elemental Mini by Reaper Miniatures

Perfect for heating up winter gameplay, all Dungeon Crate members got a Medium Fire Elemental Mini by Reaper Miniatures. This translucent red fire element mini was sculpted by Bob Ridolfi and is part of the Bones Classic line of minis. We encouraged our adventurers to use it to play this month’s adventure or any other fantasy RPG that needs a fiery foe.

Six Mini Terrain Pieces

We were feeling the love so added Many Mini Terrain Pieces into the crate mix. Because….we love terrain and we know our members do too. That’s why we added a bunch of versatile 3D printed terrain minis that can be painted up or played as-is, and used in a variety of campaign settings. What all came in the crate?

  • A Campfire Mini, which was a well-laid fire that included a cauldron bubbling with foraged stew or a magical potion. This campfire is great for adding realism when adventuring in the wilds.

  • For a decorative touch, the Lamp Post mini had a vine twisting up its sturdy post base to the lit lantern above. This lamp post is perfect for giving village scenes a realistic touch.

  • Members got a Set of 2 Stone Wall minis. The two curved stone walls can be used together or individually to create a barrier to keep the baddies out. Super versatile!

  • Last on the terrain list was a Set of 2 Mini Chests. What’s more mysterious than a closed and padlocked chest? Two of them. We suggested folks use them as treasure chests, magical chests, or sly mimics.

Full-Length Level 6 Adventure for Pathfinder 2E and DnD 5E - Dungeon Crate Exclusive

In all our crates, we include an original encounter that was written just for us. For December’s Dungeon Crate, the encounter was Trial By Fire, a full-length level 6 adventure that was written by James Rodehaver. It was designed for Pathfinder 2E and also included parenthetical modifications so you could play it in DnD 5E without having to make any adjustments.

You know James Rodehaver, he (as Evil Jim Jam) hosts and GMs the wildly popular Dragons and Stuff. He’s part of the new Tabletop News, Walking in Circles, and writes adventures that everyone wants to play.

Here’s what adventurer’s are up against: A university professor is missing and presumed dead In the aftermath of a volcanic eruption. Her daughter won’t give up hope so easily, but can’t rescue her mother alone. A dangerous mission across a land of ash and flame awaits those who answer the call for help.

Magical Item Stat Card - Dungeon Crate Exclusive

Another Dungeon Crate exclusive, a Magical Item Stat Card came as part of the adventure. Activate these heavy-duty boots and you can walk across hazardous terrain without danger. The illustrated card gives players a visual and has Pathfinder 2E and D&D 5E stats on the back.

Big Baddie Stat Card - Dungeon Crate Exclusive

We also included a Big Baddie Stat Card, which was a large elemental looking to heat up your nights. Use the illustrated card to immerse players in the adventure. Flip it over to find Pathfinder 2E and D&D 5E stats for the GM.

Each month we add a fun bonus item or two to inspire and delight.

December 2023 Digital Dungeon Crate

Last but not least, we gave all members — whether they get the digital-only version or get the physical crate — access to our fully loaded Digital Dungeon Crate. Downloads included a PDF of the adventure, map, stat cards, and more.
