Introducing Dungeon Crate Magazine: The Ultimate RPG Resource for Game Masters and Players

A modern RPG magazine packed with adventure, charts, fun games, and exclusive content to bring more creativity and excitement to your tabletop RPGs

Since Dungeon Crate’s early days, eleven years ago, we’ve worked to create an RPG loot crate that’s as fun for players as it is for game masters. That mission became our identity. It’s what Dungeon Crate is known for today.

Every month, we included an original adventure in each crate. It’s been a cornerstone of what we do. But lately, our founder, Wayne Brekke, who’s been playing and GMing since the early ’80s, has been itching to take things a step further.

Bringing Back That Classic RPG Magic

When Wayne first rediscovered the world of RPG zines, it struck a chord. If anyone is lucky enough to have flipped through the pages of classic publications like Dragon Magazine, you know the feeling: dense with ideas, packed with tools, and brimming with inspiration you could drop straight into your game.

Today’s zines are doing some great things, especially with encounters and short-form content. But for Wayne, something was missing. He didn’t just want a piece of the experience. He wanted the whole toolbox.

So, like he did eleven years ago when he launched the world’s first RPG loot crate, Wayne got to work.

Introducing Dungeon Crate Magazine

Dungeon Crate Magazine is our answer to that itch, the one every GM gets when they want more ideas, more tools, and more ways to surprise their table. The one every player gets when they realize that they don’t want the game to stop at the table. They want more.

This isn’t just an adventure booklet. It’s a full-fledged magazine designed to live on your table, get dog-eared in your game bag, and spark ideas long after you’ve read it cover to cover.

Inside each issue, you’ll find:

Original Adventures & Maps – Ready-to-run content you can drop into your campaign with minimal prep

Charts & Tables – The kind of quick-roll tools GMs love when improvisation strikes

RPG Mini-Games – Fun, creative activities to keep your RPG lifestyle rolling

Interviews – Conversations with creators, artists, and interesting voices in the RPG space

Extras – Because we can’t help ourselves—there’s always something unexpected

Built for the Table

We designed Dungeon Crate Magazine to be more than just a read—it’s a resource. Something you can flip open mid-session when your players go off the rails. Something that gives you ideas when prep time is short. Something that reminds you why you fell in love with tabletop gaming in the first place.

Whether you’re a veteran GM with decades behind the screen or a newer player stepping into storytelling for the first time, this magazine is built to meet you where you are and give you something you can use immediately.

A Natural Evolution of Dungeon Crate

At its heart, this magazine is an extension of everything Dungeon Crate has always been about: making your game nights more fun, more immersive, and more memorable.

We’ve always believed that great RPG experiences come from a mix of creativity, community, and a little bit of chaos. Dungeon Crate Magazine brings all of that together in one place.

What Comes Next

This is just the beginning.

We’re excited to grow Dungeon Crate Magazine alongside our community—adding new voices, new ideas, and new ways to bring value to your table. As always, we’re building this with you in mind.

If you’ve been with us since the early days, thank you for being part of this journey. And if you’re new to Dungeon Crate, there’s never been a better time to join our adventuring party.
