Unboxing September Dungeon Crate

Are You Searching for What Comes in a Dungeon Crate?

If so, you’re going to get pumped up about September, adventurer! Because we pre-loaded this crate with a muscle-bound encounter sure to boost your endorphins, gameplay additions to launch your campaign to new heights, and handy ways to keep track of items. This is a good month to get an idea of the kinds of things we put into our mystery RPG loot crate each month. Let’s run you through all the adventurous loot you’ll find in your September Dungeon Crate.

Kittenpult Dice Launcher - DC Exclusive

Like a catapult, only smol! The Kittenpult is a Dungeon Crate exclusive that will launch you into adventure, no gunpowder needed. This little catapult delivers big fun to any campaign. Use everything from a D20 to mini skull, jellybean, or mini marshmallow as ammo. Our dice launcher assembles quickly (we even added a QR code on the back of the bag so you can see us assemble it) and we included a few mini rubber bands into the bag so you’ll have plenty. The Kittenput Dice Launcher was designed by us and custom cut of quality wood by our friends at Timmy’s Treehouse. Didn’t get the September Dungeon Crate? You can find it on our online store.

Item Notepad - DC Exclusive

This super handy notepad is one of our essential gameplay notepads. It’s a great way to keep track of all the dungeon goodies adventurers keep finding along their way, magical or mundane. The item notepad has organized check boxes for item type and rarity plus a place to doodle an image and write out bullet points. Our gameplay notepads are best sellers. DMs and players love them.

Wand of Writing

We knew folks would need a writing utensil to go with their notepad so we decided to make it awesome. This wand of writing is a quality classic that never goes out of style. After all, sometimes the pen(cil) is mightier than the sword. Slay them with words!

Orc Berserker Miniature Figure - Reaper Minis

Check out the muscles on this Orc Bersker but don’t objectify him because he might just be a philosopher too. We added this mini from Reaper Miniatures Bones line into the crate so members could use it to play our adventure this month, or for any orc-ish encounter in the future. It was sculpted by Tre Manor and can be played as-is or painted, no priming required.

Paint Brush for Mini Figs

We give our members a new mini in each crate so it makes sense that we would add a paint brush to help make painting them easier. Members got either a detail brush for brining out the finer points or a small flat brush to make it easier to control a wash style paint.

Neutral-System 1-Shot: Civilize the Mind, Make Savage the Body by James Gallagher & Wayne Brekke – Dungeon Crate Exclusive

Our September Dungeon Crate encounter is a side-splitting, system-neutral romp designed for first through third level players. System neutral means it’s easy to play as-is, or with just a little tweaking, with your favorite platform: DnD, Shadowdark, Pathfinder, and more.

This original encounter was written by James Gallagher of Traveling Tales DMing and Dungeon Crate founder Wayne Brekke. We set this philosophizing gym in our sandbox world of Halcyon but you can easily drop into your own campaign setting.

Here’s what your players are up against:

The party is summoned to the Muscle Forge, a raucous orcish gym where brawn meets brain. “CIVILIZE THE MIND, MAKE SAVAGE THE BODY!” thunders from painted banners. The legendary headband of intellect, essential for the orcs’ “mental pump,” has been stolen. The musclebound staff and patrons need your help to find it. Expect physical feats, social wrangling, and some no-holds-barred, protein-fueled combat.

Bonus Loot!

We tossed in a bonus illustrated 5E dice chart, complete with two magical item cards, into this month’s crate and a sticker, just for fun.

PDFs of the Original Adventure in the September 2025 Digital Dungeon Crate

We know many Game Masters who prefer to use both the printed adventures and PDF versions like those we add into our Digital Dungeon Crate. That’s why we offer anyone who gets their crate delivered to their castle doors a digital version too.

Some GMs have gone digital-only, which is why we also offer another subscription that’s just our Digital Dungeon Crate. These downloads include a PDF of that month’s encounter, maps, and more.

The Secret Digital Crate Code Gives Members 10% Off the Dungeon Crate Store

Each month we email members the secret code to access their Digital Dungeon Crate. This code also gets them 10% off our online store, all month long. Our online store has loads of RPG goodies, lifestyle pieces, and some fun cosplay gear. You’ll discover a variety of full-length adventures, one-shot encounters, evil traps, smart charts, and random room encounters. We also have lifestyle wearables, minis galore, a huge collection of dice sets in all types and sizes, handy game play tokens, and so much more. Many of our items are exclusive to Dungeon Crate and come from small makers. It’s easy to use the secret code, members just shop our online store, enter that month’s code at check-out, and 10% rolls off their total.
